The Jacket Project

Hello, after a longish break :) .

In this post i'm putting up pictures of a project that I was working on.
I had to dissect a men's double lined formal jacket piece by piece to create something completely different concentrating on the flow of lines or the movement of the fabric.
Here Goes!
I got this Jacket from a Charity Store for £4. What you see is one half of my pinstriped Jacket with its Lining!! (bright lining is why i chose this!)
A few attemps of arranging my jacket strangely on the dress form. The idea was to not use a specific part of the jacket as was orginally intended ( eg: to use the lapel anywhere except center front)

And the FINAL RESULT!!
So, sadly my beautiful bright lining couldn't be of any use. However I like the flow of lines there .

Treasures from Budapest

This was a wonderful exhibition that travelled to London featuring more than 200 masterpieces by some the greatest artists of all times.
Now obviously we weren't allowed to click photographs so I had to download them from the internet solely for the purpose of sharing. It is not for any commercial or monetary benefit of mine.

Jacopo Tintoretto (Jacopo Robusti), Supper at Emmaus, about 1542.

Gioacchino Assereto - The Mocking of Job
Giuseppe Cesari-Diana-and-Actaeon-1603
Gurercino-The Flagellation Of Christ1657. Ouch! .. what a morbid name and almost blasphemous if it weren't already famous from the passion of christ. The impressive feat of this painting was that it was life size!

Jacob Jordaens -The Fall of Man.
I love this one. Love how subtly the leaf covers the man's vital parts, how slyly the serpent passes the fruit to the woman who then passes it to the man( though the man seems to be asking for it ! ) who then blames the woman for giving him the fruit! ..( how typical!). Now there's also a controversy as to to regarding which fruit did they eat. Most would say without hesitation- an apple yet some believe it as the passion fruit(hence the name?) , or plum, peach or apricot! .. (thank god for small mercies ,for  not confusing us even more by making the fruit look like a mango!) here's the picture and i leave you to decide!

El Greco- St. Mary Magdalene

Artemisia Gentileschi- Jael and Sisera.
This painting is full of reasons to be appreciated. Firstly, because she was one of the first female painters to have achieved such success in 1600s. Secondly, love how she's hammering a nut into that man's brain. If it weren't for killing him I could almost agree that men need their screws tightened on in a while.(no offence!)

Last but not the least , (the stars of the show) the exhibition seemed to incorporate all kinds of genius from Raphael to Egon Schiele and I give you both.
Raphael- Esterhazy Madonna

Egon Schiele- Two Women

Hope you enjoyed! :)

What to do and more importantly what NOT to do?

I guess, since blogging is  a relatively new experience for me I might tend to jumble up the order of my posts. That is to say I might write about things irrespective of the order that they occured in.
(I know this is the worst way to begin a sentence) Because there is just so much to write about, and even then I am afraid to add all the pictures about the talked subject fearing the length of my post. Which brings me to ask "Will it be boring to see 20 shots of the latest patternmaking project at school or some offhanded beginner macro photography of the things sorrounding me ?" This is a question as much for the reader as for myself. Anyhow, I suppose constant blogging is the only way I might get a bit smarter at all of it , the designing, the layout, the colours and most importantly my blog posts.

Last but not the least I request my future readers(hope there are a few!) to kindly ignore my typing errors or correct it in their comment so I can fix it on my post.

The V&A of it all!

About 2 years ago while I was studying at the London College of Fashion we were given an assignment to visit the Victoria an Albert Museum. What an eye opening experience! … One of the first things you notice when you enter is this wonderful masterpiece!.. (it would almost be a crime to hide it away!)

This was the first thing you saw when you entered, and boy, was it grand! .. never thought balloons could look so good in a museum!

Tip:- If you're going to visit the V&A soon check out their fashion, costumes and the mosaics room. They are magnificent!
Realistic isn't it … Now try making that as a personalised jigsaw! Leaves me wondering.. was the artist sadistic or simply patient enough!! Way to go!
For me however, the best part was seeing the fashion fantasies exhibition featuring some bizzare fashion satires through the 1700s . Put below are a two of my favourites.
Yes that is an entire garden on her head!
This one is just fantastic. Notice that the statue in the background is perfectly proportional showing the artist's skill yet the foreground is definitely animated, securing the artist's genius. Just love how everyone has nonexistent waists and men with puffed chests relying heavily on the stereotypes of the period.

Sometimes it feels good to lighten up and crack jokes at something that can be your entire life! hope you liked it. :)

Art, Fashion and for the love of it all!

As the first post of this blog, I thought it would be a good idea to explain the title of my blog and hopefully do it justice in my future posts.
Gaining inspiration from other wonderful blogs on the world wide web, I thought why not! .. lets make a blog of my own.
Then came the hard part - ABOUT WHAT? …What will I contribute to this virtual universe thats never been shared before! ... True I might write about artists I like or something new for me but something that others may know about , yet I believe its the way one shares things. Maybe the reader might spot something new in something already seen before. also it will be fresh in his/ her mind whether he/she liked it or disliked it.
